Avoid the risk of storing all your data with one provider
Protect the Google Workspace data within your organisation - directly from Google's cloud to the Redstor cloud - and manage it all through a single application
Google makes no promise about ensuring data is not lost
SaaS vendors are unable and unwilling to protect your data in all eventualities.
Section 6 of Microsoft’s own Services Agreement states: “We recommend you regularly back up your content and data . . . using third-party apps and services.”
In the numerous terms of service for Google, Google Workspace and its individual apps, you will find no acceptance of responsibility for preventing data loss, only a disclaimer for:
- loss of profits, revenues, business opportunities, goodwill, or anticipated savings
- indirect or consequential loss
Google’s total liability is limited to the greater of £500 or 125% of fees paid in the last year.
Without a separate backup strategy, you risk losing your Google Workspace data to:
-
accidental deletion
-
retention policy gaps
-
malicious insiders
-
malware
-
ransomware
A deleted user's data disappears after just 20 days
An administrator can restore a deleted user account for up to 20 days after date of deletion.
After 20 days, the admin console permanently deletes the user account, and it can’t be restored, even if you contact Google technical support.
Data deleted from trash is irretrievable after 25 days
An administrator can restore a user’s Drive or Gmail data for up to 25 days after the data is removed from the user’s trash.
After 25 days, the data cannot be restored, even if you contact technical support. Google will delete all customer-deleted data from its systems as soon as reasonably practicable and within a maximum period of 180 days.

Most organisations will have a form of anti-virus and anti-malware protection in place, but the time it takes to uncover a malicious attack is often longer than typical retention policies.
In this case malware will be present within all backups as well as the live environment. This makes it extremely difficult to perform a malware-free recovery.
With Redstor you can detect, isolate and delete malware from backups for that additional layer of protection and peace of mind.
Our artificial intelligence-infused solution enables you to:
- Mitigate risk - even if your Google Workspace data has been infected, your backups will be ring-fenced in a known safe state
- Eliminate downtime - know that you can recover data safely, avoiding fines, reputational damage and end-user frustration
- Flag up threats - quarantine suspicious files after EVERY backup
Detect and remove malware in backups, using AI
Expand your backup portfolio and build reputation as trusted advisor
Our machine-learning model:
-
searches for key indicators exhibited by malware
-
checks for malware outside your environment, so there is no impact on your resources
-
avoids the need for a user to configure or install anything or carry out upgrades
When Redstor’s malware detection for backups is purchased as an add-on, it will quarantine suspicious files in backups from Google Drive, Classroom, Gmail (including attachments). If an attachment is flagged as suspicious, the entire email will be quarantined.
The option is also available to check backups from servers, laptops and any other end-point machines or devices, providing additional upsell opportunities.
Constantly improving its accuracy, based on shared community insights, Redstor’s machine-learning model provides enhanced protection against ‘zero-day’ threats, leaving you free to make malware-free recoveries.
Removing suspicious files
Manual intervention is only required when a suspicious file is detected. A notification then gives the option to:
- delete the file
- revert to a previous safe version
- mark it as safe
- leave it in quarantine
These actions can be taken in bulk by selecting multiple files or made against a single file.
Pricing
Pricing is per seat per month with discounts for between 1,000 to 10,000 seats, and even lower rates for more than 10,000 seats.
You can choose to enable malware detection on individual services (e.g. Gmail, Drive, Classroom). The backups of all users protected on that service will then automatically benefit from malware detection.
